My Travel Necessities

Here are some travel items I always pack:

A portable charger: A must-have for keeping in touch with friends while using Google Maps and streaming music. It all takes a toll on your phone's battery. This particular one magnetically attaches to your phone, so you don't even need a cord!

AirFly Duo Bluetooth Transmitter: This tiny tool plugs into the headphone jack of the entertainment console on your flight and voila! You can use your own bluetooth-enabled headphones without worrying about any cords getting in the way. Plus, your travel companion can also pair with them so you can watch a movie together on the flight.

Travel Power Strip: You never know what the outlet situation will be when you're traveling and there are always so many things you have recharge at the end of the day. I like this power strip because it has spaces for both USB and USB-C cords and regular outlets. Then, if you're traveling abroad, you also only have to use one adapter.

USA to Europe Plug Adapters: When I'm traveling in Europe, I always just bring these simple adapters rather than the big multi-country ones. They're so much smaller and easier to pack. Plus, everything I need to plug in (like the power strip above or my CPAP machine) already has a power converter box, so I don't need to worry about aspect. I have some similar ones for traveling in the UK.

Travel Essentials Phone Mount: On shorter trips and certain airlines, you can't rely on having an entertainment console in the plane, so you have to bring your own! You can download shows on Netflix or use the airline's streaming service, but this allows you to mount your phone on the tray for a stable, hands-free option.

Foldable Travel Duffel: I'm committed to traveling as light as possible (it just makes everything easier), but you also never know when you find souvenirs you can't resist... and also can't fit in your carry-on. This foldable bag can slip into your carry-on or personal item, but unfolds to a fairly spacious duffel with bonus shoulder strap. That way, if needed, you can check your usual carry-on and use this instead.

Notabag 2 in 1 Tote Bag: Here's another extra bag option that both takes up less space and offers a little less space in return. I use a bag like this more during my travels - to take to a market or other shopping - rather than as potential extra suitcase. Although, it could definitely work as a personal item in a pinch.

Compression Packing Cubes: One way I'm able to pack lightly is using compression packing cubes that squeeze out all the extra air. I like this brand because of the mesh inset that allows your clothes to breathe a little and helps you see what's inside. The most useful size, for me, is actually the small. It's perfect for tees and undies. I can fit four small ones in my carry-on. I've also heard really good things about the Eagle Creek brand for being lightweight.

Compeed Blister Packs: I discovered these in Spain when I got the worst blisters. These helped so much! They're like a second skin that protects your blister, and they stay on really well.

Medication Organizer: Perfect for your daily meds or vitamins. This is actually 4-pack, so you get all four colors on this one. I like how there are 6 small containers for daily meds (you can double-up if needed) and then two larger containers that would work for pain meds. Excedrin is a must when I travel, and then I also like to have some ibuprofen.

Burt's Bees Chapstick: I don't go anywhere without my Burt's Bees original chapstick. I've never found another one that I like as much. I just love that cool, refreshing mint feeling. Because I'm paranoid about losing it, I usually bring a few with me just in case.

Body Glide for Her Anti-Chafe Stick: I love wearing dresses and skirts. They're just so easy and breezy. But my thighs don't always love it, until I started using a chafing stick. Pure relief! I don't just use this for chub rub, though. I also started putting some on the tops of my toes to avoid chafing there as well.
